The Septet is an idea that I had once I came back to Barcelona after 2 years in New York. I needed something to engage both with the scene and the audience. This music is swinging, joyful and fun yet sophisticated and hopefully interesting. After 4 months playing at Robadors 23 plus a couple more gigs and a week playing at the prestigious Dizzy’s Club in New York we decided it was time to capture the spirit of this music. Consequently we recorded 4 songs (3 originals and 1 arrangement) in the venue that hosted us monthly, the one that we are the most comfortable. The band is been rotating so I can have a lot of Barcelona’s top musicians playing this music - for this edition I’ve chosen pure family. I’ve known every person in the band for 15+ years so it feels really good to play music with them again.
