UK Calls For De-Escalation At UNSC, Says 'Iran Must Not Have A Nuclear Weapon'

UK Ambassador to the UN, Barbara Woodward, stated that while the UK did not participate in the recent U.S. or Israeli strikes on Iran, it recognizes Iran's nuclear program as a serious threat to international peace and security. She affirmed that the U.S. acted to alleviate that threat but emphasized that military action alone cannot offer a lasting solution. Reiterating British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's stance, she urged Iran to show restraint and called on all parties to return to negotiations to prevent further escalation and resolve the crisis diplomatically.
