Located at about 17 kilometres from Darjeeling and elevated at an altitude of 6143ft (higher than Darjeeling) Sonada is a tranquil place with stunning natural beauty. It houses a magnificent monastery Samdrup Darjay Choling Monastery where the body of His Eminence the Venerable Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche has been preserved making Sonada a scared place for the Buddhist pilgrim. 

We stayed at Ghangri Sherpa Homestay.Rooms were clean and well maintained. All the rooms are three bedded. The hills are visible from the beds. The wall of balcony side was glass made which made entire hills visible. We enjoyed the stay very much.
