ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos is “apoplectic” and “humiliated” following the network's settlement with Donald Trump.

The settlement was filed on Saturday, with ABC News agreeing to pay Trump $US16 million after he filed a defamation lawsuit.

Trump’s lawsuit against the network came following comments by Stephanopoulos in an interview with Nancy Mace.

In the interview, the ABC News anchor claimed President-elect Trump raped author E. Jean Carrol.

The New York Post sources reveal Stephanopoulos was not only upset about the settlement but that he was forced to apologise.
