Art ring journal using distress inks, collage, and stamps.

Hi everyone, today I have a piece for my small ring journal. I start with a mixed media paper cut to 3.5” x 5.0”. Using a distress stain (salvaged patina) I begin to smoosh my paper into the stain. I apply then dry about 4 times before I start with my second color (frayed burlap). I try to keep a strong presence of the salvaged patina, especially in the center. I prep my focal image, which is a bird I cut on my cricut, with some stain smooshing and then stamp using a script stamp and walnut stain ink. I also buff the edges with the walnut stain. I add more of the frayed burlap around the edges and dry. Using a stencil I remove some of the frayed burlap to add some visual interest and pattern. I do some stamping on the card with a text & number stencil using mermail lagoon and walnut stain. I add some collage pieces and my birdie and then a little more stamping. I added some stamping on top of the collage pieces which I did not like so I re-applied more collage. I add a sentiment and seal with matte varnish. I hope you are inspired to create some art.
