ALBANY -- Two Colonie men were indicted by a grand jury on Friday for their alleged roles in the death of Jacquelyn Porecca.

Michael Chmielewski, 23, was indicted on charges of first degree murder, second degree murder, robbery and burglary. Sean Moreland, 32, was indicted on charges of second degree murder, robbery, burglary and hindering prosecution.

According to authorities, one of the men entered the salon where Porecca worked on August 21st, planning to rob it. Once inside, investigators say he stabbed Porecca, which led to her death two days later. Police say the other drove the getaway car.

According to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, Moreland also provided transportation to Chmielewski when he had reason to believe he had just committed a murder. They expect to arraign the pair sometime early next week.

Meanwhile, Colonie police say divers recovered a knife from the lake in Washington Park, but do not believe it is related to the case. They say they were alerted to the knife from someone who lost a cell phone in the area in October. That person reportedly threw the knife back into the water, where divers found it on Friday. It will be sent to the State Police lab for examination.

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan issued a release on Friday saying the water level of the lake will be lowered to help the police with their investigation. They say it could take several days to drain and will be brought back to its normal water level naturally.
