We are now in the Modern Art Room, which houses part of the collection of works from the Marche Prize, an event held in Ancona between 1956 and 1998.
The work that undoubtedly catches our attention when entering this room is the sculpture by Edgardo Mannucci, Idea n.8.
The artist traps our eyes in an explosion of energy that propagates in space, a vortex in continuous movement.
It is not difficult to understand this work and the artist's poetics if you think about what Mannucci experienced: the two world wars and the explosion of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. It is the discovery of the atomic energy generated by the splitting of the atom that makes him moving away from figurative art, landing on the informal art, of which he was a leading exponent. In Mannucci's sculptures, the matter seems to create new vital energy that involves all those who admire it.
