🎹 ABOUT THIS PIECE:
Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) as part of his 15 Two-Part Inventions, originally written to teach his students contrapuntal technique and "cantabile" (singing) style at the keyboard. Invention No. 14 is notable for its relentless use of one rhythmic gesture - a turn figure in 32nd notes - that Bach inverts, sequences, and develops throughout the entire composition.

The Inventions were designed to help keyboard students master two-part counterpoint before progressing to more complex works like the Well-Tempered Clavier and Three-Part Sinfonias.
