1995 World Champion Kong Linghui playing Ma Lin who was to go on to become multiple World Cup Champion, Olympic Champion, Doubles and Mixed Doubles World Champion and one of the most dominating players of his time. The World Championship singles title - although tantalizingly close on three occasions - slipped through his hands, though: In 1999 he lost in the final to Liu Guoliang, and in 2005 and 2007 to Wang Liqin.
