Evidence - interview: "Unlearning", The Alchemist's challenge, Kanye West, Dilated Peoples legacy

At the end of June, the new album was released by one of a kind, beloved by fans around the world, Mr. Slow Flow - Evidence. "Unlearning vol. 1", marking the end of the Weatherman era, is the opening of a new chapter in Evidence's work and life - it is musical evolution, polishing and consolidating his own, original sound - and also simply a great album we really encourage you to listen to.

Using the magic of the Internet, we invited Evidence for a little chat, where of course we talked about the new album and what it means for his career - and more. Sitting in his beautiful garden at his home in California (unfortunately, no squirrel was eager to perform in front of the camera), Ev also told us, among other things, about forging his own path as a solo artist, growing up in Venice Beach in the neighborhood of Quincy Jones III, being challenged by The Alchemist and what came out of that challenge, the iconic "This Way" single, knowing and working with Kanye West, and the legacy of Dilated Peoples - plus he introduced us to his plans for the future under his own label Bigger Picture Recordings. We did not hesitate to ask about his production and the Polish accent in Ev's work either - samples from Czesław Niemen's work on Brother Ali's latest album. Enjoy!
