貧鈾彈是指以含有鈾238的硬質合金為主要原料製成的砲彈和槍彈。其作用原理跟普通穿甲彈相同,是利用貧鈾合金的高硬度、高比重和高熔點依靠動能來穿透目標,其多用來毀傷坦克等裝甲目標。

Depleted uranium bullets refer to shells and bullets made of hard alloy containing uranium 238 as the main raw material. Its principle of action is the same as that of ordinary armor-piercing projectiles. It uses the high hardness, high specific gravity and high melting point of depleted uranium alloys to penetrate the target by relying on kinetic energy. It is mostly used to damage armored targets such as tanks.

In August 1943, the research team of the Manhattan Project in the United States wrote a report to the Pentagon, which mentioned that "munitions made from depleted uranium bombs and uranium-238 waste can contaminate the enemy's land and weaken the enemy's war potential."
