Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the Reese cargo carrier on the back of our 2024 Buick Enclave. Now this can be a great option for you if you just wanna be able to carry a little bit more items for you on your adventures or on your longer road trips. Now what's nice about a cargo carrier too is if you have anything that's extra grime or extra dirty, you don't want that getting inside your vehicle, you can keep it out instead. Now today we're mainly gonna be talking about how this cargo carrier's gonna interact with our vehicle. So the first thing I really wanna talk about are gonna be the specs and what kind of separates it from other ones around.

So this is gonna have a weight capacity of 500 pounds, which is pretty typical with these types of cargo carriers. Now, where it gets a little bit different is gonna be the design of this. So we're gonna have these railings that go all the way across. I think these make great tie end points 'cause these are gonna be extra sturdy, very strong. Keep in mind though, is if you're using any type of hook at the very end to grab on to these railings, it could scrape off some of the finish making it more pro in the resting since it is made of steel.

And there are two points I wouldn't recommend using down as a tie off point, and one of those is gonna be this mesh bottom. I do like the mesh bottom because it's gonna allow your items to breathe a little bit more on here if they're wet. But if you put a hook on here that's gonna warp it. Same thing for this thinner metal at the very front of it. And this is actually a spot for you to put a light kit on it if you ever want to have any extra safety with this cargo carrier.

Now with that being said, when you're strapping your items down, you're always gonna want to do that, but they're gonna come a point where you wanna watch out for your clearance. So with your hatch clearance, if we open this up a little bit, we're gonna find right about here is gonna be a good point to stop. So if you keep your items below 16 inches, then you can actually open this up completely without an issue and there are gonna be other benefits to doing that. The reason why you might want to open up your hatch is if you want a road trip, you got any goodies in the back, you want access to 'em. That might be one reason.

The other reason why you wanna keep your items a little bit lower to the ground is gonna be, because you're not gonna block anything back here. 15 or 16 inches is gonna sit right here. So you're not gonna block your license plate, your tail lights or your back window. Now your backup camera, it's gonna be slightly blocked. So I'd recommend using either your mirrors or that back window. Now let's get a couple measurements to see how it's gonna sit back here. The first measurement I'm gonna get is gonna be the ground clearance. That's gonna be at 21 inches. So if you have this fully loaded up, this is gonna drop down by a couple inches. Now keep in mind the Os go from the lowest rated component. So check what your hitch and your vehicle is rated for and then go from that. Now for the total distance that sits out from our back bumper to the back of the carrier, that's gonna be about 35 inches. So that's pretty typical for a cargo carrier. Now what I like about this one is it gives you a little bit more space to step behind here. So if you need to grab any straps, undo 'em, or detach the cargo carrier itself, it's gonna be a little bit easier. And speaking of that, we can talk about that now. So the way this is gonna install is we're gonna have a two inch shank that goes into your two inch hitch receiver. Now you're gonna need a pin and clip to keep that in place. It does not come with one. And I will say with just a pin and clip, you are gonna get some rattling back here. Now that's gonna be reduced if you have some heavy items, but it's still gonna cause some noise on those longer trips. You could reduce that if you check out the etrailer anti-rattle collar. I like this because it's gonna be tool free and it's just gonna live back here full time. So once I get that tightened a little bit more, you'll be able to see that we've taking out a lot of that rattling that you naturally get with this cargo carrier. Just like that, I can even
