Opening the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will damage the waterproof seal of the device. If you don't replace the adhesive seals, your phone will function normally but it will lose its protection against water.
If your battery is swollen, take the proper precautions. For your safety, please discharge the battery below 25% before disassembling the phone. This reduces the risk of a dangerous thermal event if the battery is accidentally damaged during repair.

Although it is possible to remove the battery without removing the main flex cable with the charging port, we recommend doing so to avoid damage to the surrounding components.
You will need replacement adhesive to reattach the components when you reassemble the device.
