Youth unemployment is a growing concern in Ethiopia. Unemployment is expected to reach 21% by the end of 2021, of which a large part will be young people.

Cordaid Ethiopia implemented the Jobs, Skills and Education pilot project in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, in the first half of 2021. The project provided basic life skills training to capacitate trainees with skills needed to thrive in the workplace.

Samuel Tenna, Cordaid Ethiopia’s programmes lead: “Through different training sessions we have enabled the unemployed youth to be ready to enter the job market and search for jobs. This project has yielded encouraging results and allowed us to see promising opportunities in the job creation process.”
