UGO SFORZA (1982*), concertista, organista, pianista e compositore, suona lo Scherzo Op. 2 di Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986). La dedica del celebre brano cita così: "Al mio caro maestro Charles Tournemire in un grato omaggio". Questo brano fu composto nel 1926 e poi riveduto alcune volte dallo stesso Duruflé. Lo stile è verosimilmente assimilabile a quello di Tournemire. Dame Gillian Weir scrive a proposito del brano: "La forma giocosa dello Scherzo deriva dal minuetto ma si è ampliata per abbracciare una vasta gamma di stili. L'organo è eguagliato solo dall'orchestra nella sua capacità di esprimere le più grandi emozioni, ma può stuzzicare e sorridere così come ruggire. In questo squisito esempio dell'organista-compositore francese Maurice Duruflé, delicate pennellate creano un'atmosfera di leggerezza e allegria che fluttua per riposare alla fine come un uccello che chiude le ali e si addormenta". In ogni caso, il finale rappresenta un momento suggestivo di pace e di distensione. UGO SFORZA (1982*) Concert Artist, organist, pianist, and composer, performs Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986) Scherzo Op. 2 at St. Mary's RC Cathedral in San Francisco, CALIFORNIA (U.S.A.). Charles Tournemire is the dedicatee of Duruflé’s Scherzo, Op 2: "To my dear master Charles Tournemire in grateful homage". This work was written in 1926 and was subjected to some revision. It is in a similar compositional idiom to Tournemire’s own work. Dame Gillian Weir writes about: "The form comes from the minuet but has broadened to embrace a wide range of styles. The organ is equaled only by the orchestra in its ability to express the greatest of emotions, but it can tease and smile as well as roar. In this exquisite example by France’s organist-composer Maurice Duruflé, delicate brush-strokes create a mood of lightness and gaiety that floats to rest at the end like a bird closing its wings and falling asleep". In any case, the very end of this Masterpiece represents a suggestive moment of peace and relaxation. Organ Recital on 17th of September, 2017 (Ruffatti Organ, 1971).
