Best Paint for Acrylic Pouring - Pigment Load Test - Best Budget Acrylic Paint

Every beginner acrylic paint pouring artists asks the question "What is the best paint for acrylic pouring?" The answer is quite subjective but there are definitely some tests we can do to help determine the best acrylic paint for pouring.

We will be testing 5 different popular brands of acrylic paint; Blick Arylics, Arteza Premium Acrylics, Artist's Loft Acrylics, Liquitex Basics, and craft paint (Apple Barrel).

We are using the level 1 (academic) version of these paints because these are the most cost effective and most acrylic pour artists use these paints. We think all of us want to know what the best budget acrylic paint is.

For our tests, we paint a swatch of straight paint and then compare those swatches of paint to those of paint that is mixed with pouring medium. We test this with 1:1, 2:1, and 4:1 paint to pouring medium ratios.

This test allows us to determine which paints are highly pigment, how well they mix with a common pouring medium, and how far we can extend them to help save on our pocketbooks.
