Recorded in Shelley, Idaho the evening before the total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017:

"On Monday August 21 there will be a total solar eclipse in this area. In the Interstate 15 area, it can be viewed for over 2 minutes from 6 miles north of Idaho Falls to the city of Hamer...It can be viewed for at least 1 minute between the cities of Shelley and Dubois...On US 20 to the east the eclipse can [be] viewed for over two minutes from Yukon to St Anthony. It can be viewed for at least 1 minute from Idaho Falls north to Ashton. Near State Highway 28 the eclipse can be viewed for over two minutes between milepost 15 and 44. Please protect your eyes. Put on approved eclipse glasses before turning to look at the sun. Regular sunglasses will not protect your eyes. Do not look at the sun through a camera, telescope, binoculars or any other optical device while using your eclipse glasses. The eclipse glasses are not made for concentrated light viewing. Those devices need their own special filter. Do not stop on the highway. Do not park between the highway and jump the fence line. Do not look at the eclipse while driving. If you are driving to a location to view the eclipse, to help with traffic flow arrive early and stay late. Carry your own water. in the month of August Idaho has a high fire danger rating. If one parks over dry grass the vehicle exhaust system can catch the dry grass on fire. Find a safe place to park. In all Idaho counties where there is self service emergency dispatchers can be reached by dialing 911. Hospital emergency rooms are located in Idaho Falls, Rexburg and Riggs. Various eclipse events are being held within 25 miles of the city of Idaho Falls. To recap do not park on the highway. Be patient. The higher volume of vehicles is expected leading up to the solar eclipse and afterwards. Stay alert when you drive. Carry drinking water to stay hydrated if there are traffic delays.
