English Learning & Listening Practice Daily | THE HONEST WOODCUTTER

In a quiet village, there lived an honest woodcutter named Jason. Jason worked very hard every day. He would go into the forest to cut wood and then sell it to buy food for his family. Jason’s family depended on him, so he always did his best.

One sunny day, Jason was chopping wood near a river. While he was working, his axe slipped out of his hand and fell into the water. Jason was very sad because he didn't have enough money to buy a new axe. He sat by the river, feeling worried and upset.

Suddenly, a fairy appeared from the river! She had a kind smile and asked Jeson why he was so sad. Jason told the fairy that his only axe had fallen into the water and he couldn't do his work without it. The fairy listened carefully and decided to help Jason.

The fairy dived into the water and came back with a shiny, golden axe. She asked Jeson if this was his axe. Jason looked at the golden axe and shook his head. He said, “No, this is not my axe.”

The fairy smiled and dived back into the water. This time, she came up with a silver axe. She asked Jeson if this was his axe. Jason looked at the silver axe and shook his head again. He said, “No, this is not my axe either.”

Finally, the fairy dived into the water once more. She came back with Jeson's old, rusty axe. Jeson’s face lit up with joy, and he said, “Yes, this is my axe!”

The fairy was very pleased with Jason’s honesty. She decided to reward him for being truthful. The fairy gave Jeson all three axes – the golden axe, the silver axe, and his old, rusty axe.

Jason was very happy and thanked the kind fairy. He went home and told his family about the fairy and the reward he received for being honest. Jeson’s family was proud of him, and they lived happily ever after, remembering that honesty is always the best policy.
