Extreme weather events like flooding, river erosion, cyclones etc forces about half a million people to move to Dhaka city; adding pressure to services like food, water and sanitation which are already under a lot of strain. Moreover these new immigrants find it very difficult to make a decent enough living in the capital and take up professions like day labourer, rickshaw puller and so on.

In this episode we see how the community of Mirpur Shaheedbug slum cultivate Mushroom using an empty yard of Shaheedbug east slum cooperative society as a new means of alternative livelihood. Women take an exceptionally leading role in this whole initiative which will over time help the community to earn more money for their families. It will also motivate others to work together for mutual benefit.

In this episode, we also see the use of 'bottle light' to reduce electricity consumption during day time.
