A physician by profession, he graduated from the University Medical College, in Tirupati-India and migrated to Jamaica in early 1992. He worked as a Medical Officer in both the public and private sector. He is the Principal Founder and CEO of Indies Pharma Jamaica Limited. 

In 2008, Dr. Muppuri received the ‘Good Physician of the Year’ Inaugural Award from the Medical Association of Jamaica  and in 2019 he was awarded the India Diaspora Award, the Highest Civilian Honour conferred to Indians living abroad.
