Blues Japanese Style - Kunimoto Takeharu Jam w/ Buddy Guy & Chris Duarte! / 国本武春、バディ・ガイ、クリス・デュアーテ

I love the blues! As did most of the legendary rockers when looking for musical inspiration. Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones and on & on the list goes.

And one of the benefits of having lived in Japan is that blues has been loved by so many Japanese. Which meant that someone like me got to see blues legends in-person / live because they would come (and still do come) to Japan and tour. Otis Rush, BBKing, and so many others!

Including Buddy Guy.... who I saw more than once, including a performance of "Feels Like Rain" at the Hibiya Park Arena as the skies opened up and poured down rain!

Which is why I LOVE this clip! This to me captures all of that so simply, without words!

The legendary shamisen player, Kunimoto Takeharu, fell in love with blues and bluegrass. So much so that he went out and spent a lifetime devoted to using the shamisen to interpret blues in his own way.

Watching him here with Buddy Guy and Chris Duarte reminds me of Takenaka playing with Santana. Musicians joined by their love of the music!!
