Here is a brief synopsis- "Michael Oros dodged the Vietnam draft and crossed into Canada making his home in the Teslin Lake area of Northern British Columbia. He would frequent the area known as Sheslay and was dubbed Sheslay Free. Oros went mad up there. It was thought that he had killed a Russian Trapper named Gunter Lishy. In the end, when they were going to arrest him, he killed a police officer. He hid in the bushes waiting for them - no one knew the area as well as Michael. They couldn't see him from behind. He then shot one of the officers. However, a bullet got caught in the chamber of his rifle before he could shoot another officer. One of the RCMP officers heard where the shot came from and took a chance firing his gun in the direction of the sound without knowing if his target was hit. Fate had it and Sheslay Free was killed." This is very Brief I would recommend reading the book. After talking with the Author Vernon Frolick we both agreed this would make a great movie.

The Mad Trapper

This is the tale of a man who
ran from all that would be
went to live in the wilderness
Mad Trapper destined was he

The war began in Vietnam he knew he had to flee
he travelled far into the north was known as Sheslay Free
tried to live the dream he had of peace and tranquility
but all went wrong within his mind
Mad Trapper destined was he

Learned to live off the land yes
killing to survive
he'd use all he had
just to keep alive

He built his home from the land and the tree
that he sheared with his own hands
keept his secrets in his book of his daily tasks and plans
Then one day when he returned to find that they were gone
His mind made up to find them all
Mad Trapper now he'd become

He'd listen to them voices
crying in the night
knew that they were coming soon
he was ready to fight

He saw the planes flying high above poisoning his land
vowed that he would get them all when the time was at hand
waited and watched both day and night for the enemy to return
It happened so fast the day had come
Mad Trapper said that the would learn

Walked into the openess
where he could see
they won't get close to me
he said silently

Then the dawn broke through the sound shattered in his mind
overhead he saw the foe and knew that it was time
You will not get me he cried out as he watched the glowing sun
This is my life this is my land
Mad Trapper's battle had begun

Which way will I lead them
which way shall I go
confusion is the reason
but they soon will know

He saw them hiding waiting for him he knew where they would be
ran back into the trees and bush I'll get them said Sheslay Free
Saw their backs looking ahead and shot the first one dead
His gun locked up and he went down
Mad Trapper now he was gone

The land far up North he roamed
wild and forever free
now you can hear the wind whisper
Mad Trapper's Spirit lives here
