Behold the devil in the details—this is a blazing tribute to the Lord of Cania, the Prince of Hellfire, the original Infernal Rock God: Mephistopheles.
Not to be confused with Mephisto, Diablo 2's smug hydra-spamming brother (don’t worry, I made that mistake too for YEARS 😅).

I always thought Mephistopheles was just a cool evil-sounding name from Diablo—until Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark made him properly terrifying. That final act showdown? Pure nightmare fuel and frostbite.

But it gets better—Mephistopheles even shows up in Paul S. Kemp's Sundering novel The Godborn, trying to bargain with Erevis Cale’s son (Vasen Cale—yup, that’s the actual kid’s name). You know you're a real villain when you try to recruit the child of a shadow-wielding chosen of Mask to become your next champion. 🙃

🗨️ Fun Fact: In Fiendish Codex II: Tyrants of the Nine Hells, Mephistopheles once ignited a volcano just to make a point during a board meeting in Hell. HR was not amused.
