🔧 In this video, I will be focusing on cooker oven selector switches, which are often misused and misunderstood, especially in conjunction with thermostats. Manufacturers don't provide clear instructions on using these switches properly, leading to premature device failure.
I'll explain why these selector switches fail early and show you how to test and replace them. Selector switches have multiple contacts that direct power to the oven's functions. For example, selecting the fan oven setting engages contacts for both the fan motor (low ampage) and the fan oven element (high ampage, over 8 amps). Turning the selector switch while the thermostat is already set causes sparks, burning contacts, distorting plastic, or even melting cams.
