Welcome to the start of my 25th Anniversary Let’s Play series for American McGee’s Alice! In this first episode, we return to a darker, twisted Wonderland as Alice—traumatized by tragedy and trapped within her own mind. After years in Rutledge Asylum, Alice falls once again into the surreal world she once cherished, only to find it warped into a nightmare by her shattered psyche.

In Episode 10, we hop through the steam room gears until we fight the Jabberwocky in our second match. This takes us to the final area of the game on our approach to the Bloody Queen of Heart's Castle.

This episode continues our retrospective journey through the entire original game. After that we'll follow up with Alice: Madness Returns.

Released on December 5, 2000, American McGee’s Alice is a dark fantasy action-adventure developed by Rogue Entertainment and based on Lewis Carroll’s classic works — but twisted into a sinister psychological allegory. After losing her family in a tragic fire, Alice is institutionalized, and Wonderland transforms into a manifestation of her trauma: distorted, violent, and crawling with monstrous versions of familiar characters.

The game blends platforming, puzzle-solving, and third-person combat while telling a symbolic story about grief, mental health, and reclaiming one’s identity. Its surreal art direction, emotional narrative, and dreamlike environments earned it a dedicated cult following. The legacy of the first game eventually led to its acclaimed sequel, Alice: Madness Returns, in 2011.

This playthrough celebrates the game’s 25th anniversary, revisiting the twisted Wonderland that defined an era of stylish, story-driven PC action games.
