In August 2024, higa Świątek tested positive for Trimetazidine, a prohibited substance known to enhance endurance. The positive result emerged during an out-of-competition test ahead of the US Open. Following this, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) provisionally suspended her in September and later imposed a one-month ban, attributing the positive test to contamination in her melatonin supplements. As a consequence, Świątek forfeited $190,390 in prize money and 390 ranking points earned from her semifinal run at the Cincinnati Masters. This penalty dealt a severe blow to her rankings, ultimately leading to her loss of the World number one spot to Aryna Sabalenka later in the season.
