Summarise each of the five beaches in general terms: giving a sense of how things unfold throughout the day from the point of view of landing craft and their crews, mixing analysis and veterans’ accounts; mention of follow-up forces.

· D-Day: craft lost and crew casualties
· After D-Day: landing craft on both sides of the Channel inc. Ferry Service (based at Normandy), Shuttle Service (repeated Channel crossings) inc organisation in the UK for providing further loads for returning craft, losses, casualties, repair, harbours (Mulberry and other)
