-RAM= 8GB DDR3 1600MHz

As the title says, this is Doom being played on my antiquated PC. Sorry for the rather crude capture of my CRT screen. My computer's resources are stretched so far beyond their limits that Shadowplay causes significant input and framerate lag when I use it in this game. This is footage was taken from the demo version of Doom. I am playing on the Nightmare difficulty.

Given the minimum system requirements of this game I certainly didn't expect much when it came to running this game. I thought I would use the low preset and watch my computer choke. It turns out that not only can is this playable, it's playable on mostly medium settings! The framerate jumps around quite a bit, but the game manages to stay between 30 to 45 fps most of the time. Obviously the weakest link here is my GPU which was pretty great back in it's prime but is definitely showing it's age here playing a current generation title. However it pushes with all of it's might and manages to eek out a very pleasant experience for what it is. After making this video I have experimented with the game's settings a little more and found that setting shadows and lights to low prove beneficial to overall performance stability. Even with these lower settings the game still looks great. I also played with locking the frame rate to 30 to see if I could take some load off of the CPU and GPU, but that actually made the game run a lot worse so it's best to run the game unlocked. All that being said I am very proud of my little computer still being able to play games way below minimum spec. This is such a great game! I plan on buying it come the next Steam sale for sure.

8/6/2016 Update: It is time to shed a tear as I am retiring this wonderful card which has brought me so much enjoyment as it was my gateway to PC gaming. I will be replacing this card with a GTX 950 just because I had the extra money and the 900 series is so cheap right now.
