AGULO

Due to its elevated position, Agulo is often referred to as the "balcony of La Gomera." From here, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, the neighbouring island of Tenerife, and the imposing Mount Teide.

With its well-preserved architecture and narrow, cobbled streets, this small village provides a glimpse into the traditional Canarian way of life.

Founded in the 16th century, Agulo is one of the oldest settlements in La Gomera. Its historical significance is reflected in the beautifully maintained buildings and public spaces that dot the village.

The architecture blends traditional Canarian and colonial styles, with houses featuring characteristic wooden balconies, red-tiled roofs, and whitewashed walls.

One of Agulo's most appealing aspects is its natural setting. The village is surrounded by lush green terraces and steep cliffs, making it a perfect starting point for nature walks and hiking excursions.

The nearby Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is accessible from Agulo. The park is renowned for its ancient laurel forests, among the world's last of their kind. Hiking trails of various difficulty levels lead visitors through the dense foliage, offering a chance to experience the island's diverse flora and fauna.

Agulo's location also makes it ideal for those interested in photography or simply enjoying breathtaking landscapes. The viewpoint Mirador de Abrante, located just above the village, provides a panoramic view of Agulo against the backdrop of the ocean and Mount Teide.
