4 Types of Analytics

4 TYPES OF ANALYTICS // No matter what type of analytics you’re doing and how much data you’re utilizing, analytics typically fall into 4 categories. We’re going to look at those 4 types of analytics in today’s video.

Analytics covers a broad range of topics and detail. There’s not just one type of analytics that we’re performing. The goals of your analysis will typically fall into 1 of 4 major categories of analytics.

You’re typically going to want to describe, diagnose, predict, or prescribe.

These 4 types of analytics build off of each other. You move through:
descriptive analytics
diagnostic analytics
predictive analytics
prescriptive analytics

The four stages of analytics will feel very familiar if you think about what happens when you get sick enough to go to the doctor.

We’ll look at this example and explore further into each of these analytics types.
