hrad vznikol v prvej polovici 13. storočia. Patril medzi prvé hrady, ktoré zabezpečovali západnú hranicu Uhorska, najmä v 13. storočí, keď ho spravoval hradný kráľovský kastelán. Hrad je známy najmä kvôli legende o krvilačnej čachtickej pani - Alžbete Bátoriovej.

Zrúcaniny Čachtického hradu tvoria dodnes dobre identifikovateľné budovy, postupne sa dvíhajúce na hornom, strednom a dolnom hrade. Opevnenia si zachovali zvyšky štítkových renesančných atík, na hornom hrade sú fragmenty pôvodných omietok s maľbami. Na starších fotografiách môžete hrad vidieť s vežou, v súčasnosti stojí bohužiaľ už iba jeden jej múr. Z hradu je nádherný výhľad na okolité svahy Malých Karpát, kopanice Myjavskej pahorkatiny a Považský Inovec.

Čachtice Castle was built in the first half of the 13th century. It was among the first castles that secured the western border of Hungary, especially in the 13th century, when it was managed by the castle's royal castellan. The castle is known mainly because of the legend about the blood-curdling lady of Chacht - Alžbeta Bátoriová.

The ruins of the Čachtice Castle are still well-identifiable buildings, gradually rising on the upper, middle and lower castle. The fortifications have preserved the remains of the Renaissance style attics, the upper castle has fragments of the original plasterwork with paintings. In older photos, you can see the castle with a tower, unfortunately only one of its walls is currently standing. From the castle there is a wonderful view of the surrounding slopes of the Little Carpathians, the excavations of Myjavská pahorkatina and Považský Inovec.
