SOUTH CAROLINA (WCIV) — South Carolina students are making notable academic progress, with the latest SC READY test results showing statewide improvements in both reading and math, particularly in the early grades.

The annual assessment, administered to students in grades 3 through 8, revealed that more children are reading and writing at or above grade level than in previous years. Education leaders are calling the upward trend a “Southern Surge” in academic growth.
