Mercedes 4Matic - Front Differential Fluid Change - W204/W205 (Easy Way)

The Mercedes 4Matic has had a few differentials over the generations.

The vehicle I work on is a 2013 W204 C300 4Matic Sport. This front differential is similar to the W212 E-Class, and W205 C-Class.

The correct fluid is a 75w85 differential fluid. Fuchs or Febi brands are my preference for this (whichever you can find) which adheres to MB237.5 fluid requirement.

This front differential has a capacity of 600ml, for the W204 C300 4Matic.

Use common sense, and before you fill, measure what you drained.

The "formal" procedure, is to remove front axle, and fill from the axle opening. That is a lot more work, and hopefully this quick little procedure saves you a lot of time. You just need a 722.9 fill plug thats used for the transmission, and a means to push the fluid into the differential from the drain plug.

There is no fill plug on these newer style differentials, just a breather hole at the top.
