Using the animation program VideoScribe, Professor Austin Tian from the School of Applied Technology produced animation videos to present to his engineering classes. The animations incorporated text, images and motion graphics, and were posted to Blackboard.

The results showed that this supplementary video content encouraged more engagement in the classroom and helped students understand difficult concepts. Students felt comfortable with this approach, and preferred this over traditional PowerPoint presentations. After students reviewed the footage, their understanding of basic concepts were much better than the previous semesters.
