Astralis is a Danish organization owned by players of the former Danish Team SoloMid/Questionmark lineup, with the help of their manager, Frederik "realition" Byskov.

It is also worth noting that the original five members of this team (karrigan, dupreeh, dev1ce, Xyp9x and cajunb) are co-owners of the organization and Astralis is one of the first player-made organizations in Counter-Strike history, whilst other players and teams have followed on this trend, such as Steve "Ryu" Rattacasa and his multi-game organization, Selfless Gaming, as well as Markus "pronax" Wallsten's GODSENT. This also includes Alter Your Ego, a former British organization which Joe "skii" Williams, Ian "Immi" Harding and Ben "Esio" Doughty founded. As of August 27th 2016, a second Danish lineup, known as Team X (formerly known for playing under the SK Gaming banner) formed their own organization known as Heroic (consisting of Friis, MODDII, gla1ve, valde and Snappi). Heroic coincidentally was also the name of a team that device once played under in the Spring of 2013.

As of May 19th and as a result of cajunb and Kjaerbye swapping teams with eachother, Astralis later announced in a Q&A on their website that these roster changes do not automatically revoke him of his ownership with the organization, nor automatically grant Kjaerbye ownership with the organization, as the other staff may later decide what takes effect later on. [1] While Bo "wantz" Vestergaard was still in the team as a backup, he was never declared an owner nor granted any form of ownership either.

In previous history, Astralis was previously a Finnish organization in the mid-years of Counter-Strike 1.6. They were only known for having professional Counter-Strike 1.6 teams, situated in Finland. They have owned four different teams (one which disbanded, then reformed with the organization with the same exact lineup), within the space of five years (2004 to 2009).

One well known player from one of the former Finnish lineups is Joona "natu" Leppänen. He was a member member of the 2nd Finnish lineup, which was their longest lasting lineup, which ran from 2005 to 2006. Leppänen had only played with the lineup for four months, since he left to join 4Kings. 4Kings was a British/Scandinavian team at the time.
