Talking Heads were an American rock band that formed in New York City back in June 1975. They were together until December 1991 when they officially split up as a band.
They were actually together in 1973 under their original name of Artistics with the members David Byrne (guitar and vocals) and Chris Frantz (drums) and later on Tina Weymouth (bass guitar) joined them. Tina was actually Chris's girlfriend, and they would marry in a few years. The band changed their name from Artistics to Talking Heads, and they played their first Gig together in June 1975. In March 1977, Jerry Harrison (Keyboards, guitar and backing vocals) joined the band.
The Album Talking Heads 77 was their debut studio album released in September 1977. It produced the Single "Psycho Killer" which went well on the charts for them.
Talking Heads second studio Album was called More Songs About Buildings and Food, and it was released in July 1978. It was their first album with producer Brian Eno. The Album produced the hit single "Take Me to the River", which I admit I find a tad boring to be honest, and not my favourite song of theirs.
Their third Album was called Fear of Music and it was released in August 1979. It was the second Album collaboration with Brian Eno producing it with them. It had three Singles on it "Life During Wartime", "I Zimbra", and "Cities". I personally don't know these songs at all, but the Album apparently went well at the time.
Their fourth Album was called Remain in Light and was released in October 1980. It was the third and final Album to be produced with Brian Eno. It had the standout Single on it called "Once in a Lifetime" as well as three others. But "Once in a Lifetime" went really well for the band.
In June 1983 Talking Heads released their fifth studio Album called Speaking in Tongues. The biggest Single to come from it was "Burning Down the House". Quite a strange song, but it was popular at the time.
In June 1985 Talking Heads released Little Creatures (their sixth Studio Album) and I don't think too many people would argue with me when I say that it was their best Album ever. It had four awesome songs on it "The Lady Don't Mind", "Road to Nowhere", "And She Was" and "Give Me Back My Name". These all sound good, even when heard today.
Their seventh studio album released in September 1986 is actually my personal favourite Album from them, but I know it wasn't as good as Little Creatures in most people's opinion. But I really love this Album. It's called True Stories, and it actually features songs used in David Byrne's interesting film called "True Stories" too. I saw it only in the last couple of years on Amazon Prime, and to be honest it wasn't too bad, something different. But this Album has so many great tracks on it, and I put the CD into my car every now and then to listen to it. "Love for Sale", "Puzzlin' Evidence", "Hey Now", "Wild Wild Life", "People Like Us", "Dream Operator" and "City of Dreams" are just all such great songs. At the time the Album came out though, only "Wild Wild Life" and "Hey Now" seemed to get any radio play in Australia.
Talking Heads eighth and final studio Album was called Naked, and it was released in March 1988. It had the Singles "Blind", "(Nothing But) Flowers" and "Mr. Jones". The critics apparently liked the Album and said it was much better than True Stories, but for me it's not a patch on the brilliant Little Creatures and True Stories Albums.

Anyway, to honour this great American band, I have a Remix of "(Nothing But) Flowers" as we stroll through the he amazing Flower Dome building (at the Gardens by the Bay) in Singapore.
