I don't typically re-upload old footage in its entirety, but with work being busy and this winter being particularly harsh, I haven't had the chance to touch my cameras in almost a month and a half now. Not to mention the channel has been in sort of a dry spell and I didn't want to let it go on much longer, so I did a little digging in the hard drives and found some videos of NS trains from the Spring and Summer of 2017 two years before PSR took hold of the railroad. A good portion of things you'll see in this video are no more, whether that's locomotives, old rolling stock, or some of the trains themselves. Lost with those things, in my opinion the worst loss of all, was the excitement around spending any amount of time trackside. Buffing used to be much like fishing, you never knew what you were going to get. Now with the established norm of GE wide cabs, distributed power and the 12,000 foot trains, it feels as if you are pulling out the same fish every time you go out. Spending most of the day waiting for something to show up is largely a waste of time now (haters will say it always was), and cherry picking the "good" trains off of heads ups chats to quickly dash out of the house and shoot only brings so much entertainment anymore, but perhaps that's just how things go. Getting into the hobby ten plus years ago, you'd hear old heads still mourning the end of Big Blue, as I'm sure their old heads lamented the loss of the anthracite roads, and so on. It's how things are now. Anyways, I should have new stuff soon, the days are getting longer now and I have a couple trips in the pipeline. Enjoy!
