Episode 7 Pt. 2 - Inti Raymi

In this episode of "Chefs Life Adventures," we continue our journey into the heart of our cultural traditions of Inti Raymi—the celebration of the Sun. Inti Raymi is an ancient Andean celebration that honors Inti, the Sun God, and marks the summer solstice, symbolizing the rebirth of the Sun and the beginning of a new agricultural cycle.

We kick off by serving chicha we prepared with my grandmother in Part 1, a traditional fermented corn drink that plays a vital role in our celebrations. Surrounded by loved ones, we express our gratitude and Love to Pachamama (Mother Earth) for another year of life and abundance.

As part of the ceremony, we unearth a bottle of "puro" (made from sugar cane) that we buried the previous year, a ritual that symbolizes new beginnings and the purity of life. The celebration comes alive as we dance together by honouring our ancestors and embracing the rhythms that have connected our people for generations.
