Event #PressRelease | The Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce (BRATECC) had the pleasure of hosting one of its most awaited events of the year, the Person of the Year & Company of the Year 2022 Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, March 8th, at which it recognized and awarded the Person and Company that over the past year, distinguished themselves in areas such as business, technology, economics, science or education, in the context of Brazil/Texas relations.
As BRATECC’s new president, John Moseley was responsible for leading the evening. We had the distinguished presence of the Honorable David W. Robinson, Houston City Council Member for the At-Large 2 position representing the City of Houston. In addition to the honorees, members, and general public, we also were graced by our special guests, specifically: Mr. Renato de Alencar Lima, Deputy Consul General of Brazil in Houston; Mr. Roberto Ardenghy, President & CEO, IBP - Brazilian Petroleum and Gas Institute; and Mr. Fernando Borges, Director of E&P, Petrobras.
The event took place at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel by the Galleria, starting with a networking cocktail reception, followed by dinner, and ending with the awards ceremony for the former Minister of Infrastructure of Brazil, Mr. Tarcisio Freitas, chosen for the “Person of the Year” category based on his commitment and dedication to improving Brazil's infrastructure throughout his term at the Brazilian Ministry of Infrastructure and creating opportunities for American companies. Mr. de Freitas was unable to attend in person due to extraordinary circumstances. As for the “Company of the Year” category, Edison Chouest Offshore (founded in 1960 in Louisiana) stands out for its extraordinary growth in offering maritime transport solutions between the U.S. and Brazil, as well as to other parts of the world, particularly regarding high-quality technology. We are grateful to have ECO as a long-time member and a member of the BRATECC Board of Directors.
We further took the opportunity at the end of the event, which was held on the same date as International Women's Day, to honor all women present, specifically those representing BRATECC who made this event possible and represented women around the world. We truly recognized their extreme importance and strength. Carla Lacerda, our new Vice President, led this special moment of the night.
