South Korea's President Yoon Suk Yeol impeached over martial law bid | DD India

South Korea's parliament voted overwhelmingly to impeach President Yun over allegations of insurrection following his failed martial law attempt. Out of 300 lawmakers, 204 supported impeachment, while 85 opposed it. Opposition leader Lee Jae-myung hailed the move as a victory for the people. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has assumed interim leadership, pledging to stabilize governance. The Constitutional Court will begin deliberations on Monday and has 180 days to decide Yun's fate. If upheld, Yun would become South Korea’s second impeached president. Protesters celebrated outside Parliament as the country faces a critical political transition.
