In this week’s #muscleoftheweek we have Rectus Capitis Posterior Major muscle. This muscle is very deep in the neck in the group called the suboccipital muscle groups. If you have ever had a tension headache, or even worse a nasty migraine, this could very likely be the culprit of it!

This muscle tends to get very beat up and overused in people that spend a lot of time working on devices, looking down, and a lot of screen time. When this happens the muscles develop a lot of scar tissue.

Scar tissue is like glue in the muscle that makes the muscles weaker and less flexible, which can lead to tension, headaches, and overall neck pain and stiffness.
