Cornish Lure Festival 2022 - Bass, wrasse and species events covered with full results

The Cornish Lure Festival, run by Ben Field and The Art of Fishing in Wadebridge, combines three excellent events.

The primary event has always been the bass competition, run across 48 hours from midday Friday through to midday Sunday, this event sees anglers from all over attempt to land the biggest shore caught bass on a lure from anywhere in Cornwall. Further prizes are available for the biggest bass from a visiting angler and the longest bag of bass, comprised of the anglers 2nd, 3rd and 4th largest fish.

To provide something extra to fish for, the wrasse event has developed in recent years to something many actively target. There's some real lumps to go for in Cornwall, though given it's a length competition and wrasse tend to max out at a given length and just gain weight, this prize is based on the total length of the anglers best 3 fish.

The final event is the species event. This has grown massively in popularity over the past few years with the explosion of the LRF scene. With anglers like Andy Mytton, Will Pender, Ben Bassett, Rich Salter and Joe Mole doing so much for the sport of late, it was great to see this event come with a twist this year that massively increased the social aspect, something that the sport can really thrive on and is great for everyone's mental health.

Cornwall offers a very scenic place to hold such a competition and it was a pleasure to be filming and photographing it.

All of the footage is a combination of effort between our excellent regular videographer, Ben Conway, plus Ben Ford and Grant Jones. Ben Ford was also filming for BT Sports 'On the Bank' episode covering the Cornish Lure Festival and is one of the finest freelance marine videographers out there.
