Sleep Token - Alkaline (Bass Cover)

Worship. As so many of you have, I've fallen in love with Sleep Token and their incredible music over the last year. Back in December, I listened to This Place Will Become Your Tomb for the first time and I recorded the audio for this cover shortly after. The Christmas holiday and a bunch of other projects that followed took me away from this until a couple of days ago, so I'm glad to get back to finishing this one! I don't use picks often (Swiss Picks Sharp Cheddar Slab 2.0 mm, for anyone curious) and it's a little rough around the edges in spots, but I'm still happy with how it turned out.

This late-model Squier Classic Vibe Precision bass with NYXL strings absolutely rips by the way.

Bass is direct into my Focusrite Clarett+ 4Pre. I shaped the DI signal with some EQ and compression, and blended it with a track with Neural DSP's Darkglass Ultra (Nolly's No Cab Sim stock preset) and Parallax (Jon Stockman's "Chinese Burn" bass stock preset). I then sent those tracks to a bus with additional compression (both regular and multiband) and additional EQ shaping, and closed it out with some room tone from one of my favorite Lexicon plugins.
