Al Green, the great soul and gospel singer of the seventies, doesn't need any further introduction. With his silken cries, his sensual moans and breathtaking falsettos he represents pure soul to many of his admirers. He had a string of hits including Tired of Being Alone, Let's Stay Together, Can't Get Next to You and I'm Still in Love With You. When he side-tracked soul at the end of the seventies and, after a fall from the stage, definitely chose for religion, many of us feared that it wouldn't do any good to his music. He had his scorching come-back on the Blue Note label with I Can't Stop. Recently he released Everything's OK, a new album full of originals, except Joe Cocker's You Are So Beautiful. Green's songs once again have been produced by Willie Mitchell, with whom the singer formed such an impressive duo at the end of the seventies.
