Spring Valley, Calif. — A massive law-enforcement response flooded an apartment complex on the 3900 block of Conrad Drive Sunday evening after a deputy broadcast an “11-99, officer is in immediate danger” call during a domestic violence incident, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The call came in around 6:05 p.m., prompting units from multiple surrounding agencies to race to the scene with lights and sirens.

Deputies were originally responding to a domestic violence call when a possible weapon — believed to be a knife — was displayed, leading a deputy to issue the emergency distress signal. An “11-99” call is one of law enforcement’s most urgent alerts, indicating an officer is in immediate danger and automatically triggering a large multi-agency response.

After clearing the location, deputies determined that the report was unfounded.

Early reports suggested the female involved may have been held against her will, and investigators are still working to confirm those details. A Sheriff’s sergeant on scene told 619 News Media that the female was safe and that no injuries had been reported.

Deputies took the male suspect into custody without further incident.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation.
