Описание к видео Arthur Wermuth: The One-Man Army of Bataan | The Hero Show

Even though the Japanese held him prisoner for much of WWII, U.S. Army officer Arthur Wermuth killed at least 116 enemy soldiers. He courageously slipped behind enemy lines, destroyed communication lines, and blew up bridges.

The ex-football star’s weight dropped from 190 to 105 pounds, but he survived the war. Wermuth earned a Distinguished Service Cross, four purple hearts, and a silver star. He was celebrated as “The One-Man Army of Bataan,” and the Japanese called him Wermuth the Lion.
