It’s pretty essential for any guitarist to understand how Dominant chords work, and you can wrap your head around them even if you don’t know a lot of (or any) music theory. They’re a big subject, so this is the Part 1 of a 3-part series, and we talk about what Dominant chords are, how to make them, what they do in tonal music (Classical, Rock, Pop, Jazz, etc…) and what they do in Flamenco that’s sometimes a bit different. Most importantly, we look at five essential shapes of 7 chord that every guitarist should know, and we put them in a little progression that will help you understand what shapes resolve to what other shapes. If none of this makes any sense to you, then this might be a really helpful video for you to watch.
