Minnetonka Cave is located on the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and is one of only two “show” caves on National Forest lands. The Cave is open for tours from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The tours take approximately an hour with tour guides mixing science and fantasy while describing the many rooms filled with stalagmites, stalactites, flowstone, and cave ‘bacon’. Visitors also get to experience total darkness while at the deepest point of the tour. The cave serves as a hibernaculum for 5 species of bat, one of which is the Townsend Big-eared bat.
