Описание к видео Warsaw, Poland - What to See and Do | The Best Things in Warsaw (Underrated Budget TRAVEL Paradise)

This video is about Warsaw, Poland - What to See and Do | The Best Things in Warsaw (Underrated Budget TRAVEL Paradise)

Warsaw Poland has had an incredibly uproaring history over the last 100 years; with most of the city being destroyed by the Nazis back in the WW2. However, it has undergone some rapid changes in the last 20 years since the fall of communism and developed into a city for new business, turned into a tourist hub and really proved why this is the true capital city. The Warsaw that we see today is actually relatively modern and exactly in sync with what one might expect from a vibrant European capital - several high rise tall skyscrapers, fast lane connectivity and incredible pace of development. However, the historic city also boasts one of the most well preserved and popular old towns in the entire Europe!

"You either LOVE it OR HATE it, there's no middle ground" - that's what I got told when speaking to the locals about the city! Some were absolutely smitten by the architecture and development in the city and felt that it's been a necessary step. Others, not so much, for them the city has lost it's old town charm thanks to the mindless expansion. For them it's now become just another industrial city where one visits only due to work commitments.

I was pleasantly surprised with the city's transport system. Warsaw has amazing connectivity and besides a very functional yet affordable public transport system, it also boasts an amazing infrastructure for cycling as well, so you don't need to worry about hiring a car or taxi or anything. I got by on foot but used the public transport to cover as much as I could during the 3 days I spent here!

If you like being close to nature then Warsaw will pleasantly surprise you because almost a quarter of the city is green. Warsaw is also one of the few capitals in the world that boasts an actual forest and woodland growing in the city. Warsaw is a dream for the nature lovers! Vistula will impress you too! You won’t find a river like this in other European capitals! On the left bank you can enjoy entertainment, eat well and take part in cultural events. The right side of the river is a Natura 2000 area – a habitat for many breeding species of birds threatened with extinction.

Not just the river but the bridges in the city are quite a sight too! Warsaw is truly a hidden gem, the more you explore, the more you discover and the more you're surprised by it! Another massive surprise for me was the Tourist Information Center! It's located in the "Palace of Culture and Science" and looking for it took me to this top MUST SEE monument of a building in Warsaw!

The Palace of Culture was built in 1955 during the Soviet occupation of Poland as an imposed and unwanted "gift" to the people of Poland. Controversial to say the least, the Palace was a 'gift of the Soviet to the People of Poland' which, at the time, Warsaw could not refuse. The Poles don’t like it because of the sad memories it evokes, and voices arise from time to time asking for its demolition; but demolition would be nonsensical because this building has in the meantime become the iconic landmark of Warsaw. In fact you can spot it from nearly everywhere in town, even from kilometers of distance. Standing tall at 276 meters, up untill very recently, it used to the tallest building in Poland. It houses a large number of cultural institutions, including three theatres, a library, an auditorium for 3000 people, a multiplex cinema, some museums and others.

After dark, Warsaw continues to charm with it's breathtaking views! It also has a great bar, clubs and party scene! If you get a chance, do catch the city's light festival in the old town square. It's quite an experience in itself!
