A fading drag bar beyond the East Village, Club 82 was a dark basement room a literal underground ideally suited for the likes of the Dolls and other rowdy rockers as glam evolved into punk sometime, and somewhere, between Max's Kansas City and CBGB's. This definitive clip from the Dolls' first appearance at the joint features the boyz all in drag 'cept for Johnny Thunders who refused to wear a dress (not that the band did it all that often, debut LP makeup notwithstanding).
